First stone of new Diamant construction on November 9

It has already been 5 days, but we would still like to share the images and the press release of the laying of the first stone with you. It was an unforgettable birthday for master Rob and a great day for the children and the team with theater, music, architecture and fries as a treat.

The press release:

First stone of new construction Diamant

Today the symbolic first stone was bricked into the new building of the 'Diamant' on the Diamanthorst in Mariahoeve. A partnership between primary school De Vuurvlinder, Childcare 2Samen and JongLeren toddler learning places that will jointly use the new name. Director Rob Rosier placed the stone with the help of some students during a festive program for all children and partners. Between the showers and in keeping with the school: with live music.

“Today is the day that the Berlin Wall was torn down years ago,” says director Rob Rosier of Vuurvlinder. “Now we are building something beautiful here. We are laying the foundation stone for a building where all cultures are welcome. We've been working on that for more than 10 years! A place where we will continue to build development opportunities for children from 0 to 12 years old together. Here they can grow into real Diamonds. With equal opportunities for every child. Connection is central: with our partners and the neighborhood.”

The whole day was all about 'building', with visits from construction workers in the classroom, making your own designs, language and arithmetic games in this theme and the architects talking about their profession and the new building. Children and parents could also count on tasty treats. After the official laying of the first stone, the ceremony was repeated indoors for all students who could not be present at the construction site. Rob Rosier proudly told the children about their new school building. There was a lot of live music. For example, the 'De Residents', the Vuurvlinder's own large school orchestra, played like stars from heaven. Teachers Mariska and Ab, dressed as real builders, built a wall on which the first stone was unveiled. As soon as the Diamond on the wall was visible, golden confetti went into the air and the children welcomed their new school building, jumping and cheering.

De Vuurvlinder has approximately 290 students from more than 50 different countries and cultures. This requires a special approach with which the school achieves good results. An extensive range including technology, theatre/music, sports, science, art and English is part of this. The collaboration with 2Samen and JongLeren also appears to be successful. Previously, the partners jointly realized the Ukraine School very quickly, with all 80 students present at the festivities. “These are also part of the Diamond!”, concludes Rob Rosier.
